Summary
PLVision seeks an Open Networking Support Specialist to work directly with enterprise, hyperscaler, telco, and data center customers running SONiC and SONiC Lite-based network operating systems.
The role lives at the intersection of networking, Linux systems, and product engineering. You will work on real production networking issues, collaborate closely with L3 and engineering teams, and help improve product quality and stability.
This is an L2+ advanced networking engineer position (not a call center) – technically demanding and focused on root cause analysis, structured troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.
At PLVision, we lead meaningful technical projects that significantly impact the open networking industry, helping you build a brighter future. With over 18 years of expertise and a highly skilled, recognized, and supportive team, we are deeply committed to engineering excellence. We provide a rewarding environment where you can thrive and transform your ideas into impactful software solutions and products. Join us and enjoy a consistent career while contributing to innovative open networking technologies!
Responsibilities
Triage all inbound tickets: confirm severity, reproduce in lab, attempt resolution from KB and runbooks before escalating
Own P3/P4 tickets fully — investigation, customer communication, resolution, and closure
Support L3 on P1/P2 incidents: customer communication, log gathering, timeline documentation, queue coverage
Escalate structured findings to L3 when KB resolution is exhausted — with reproduction steps, logs, and ruled-out causes attached; no re-triage left for L3
Author or update runbooks and KB articles for every issue class you resolve that wasn't already documented
Contribute to post-incident reviews: SLA performance assessment, runbook gap identification
Maintain ticket hygiene: severity, status, time-logging, resolution notes
Requirements
2+ years in network engineering, NOC, or technical support with hands-on troubleshooting in production environments
L2/L3 networking fundamentals: BGP, VLAN, MLAG/LACP, switching and routing behavior
Linux CLI fluency: log analysis, packet capture (tcpdump/Wireshark), basic diagnostics
Strong written English — customer communication under pressure is a core part of this role
Comfortable following and improving runbooks under time pressure
Ticketing system fluency (any major platform)
Asks clarifying questions before guessing; comfortable saying "I need to reproduce this" rather than estimating
Familiarity with:
- Datacenter topologies (Leaf-Spine) and use cases
- High availability mechanisms
- DevOps tools (Containers, Git, CI/CD)
Would Be a Plus
CCNA/CCNP certification is highly valuable
NOS experience (SONiC, ONL, Cumulus, or similar) – or fast learner
ASIC familiarity (Broadcom, Mellanox)
Python, Bash, or C/C++ programming background
GNS3/Packet Tracer tools for lab work
Experience contributing to internal KBs or runbook libraries
