PLVision is pleased to announce the expansion of its SONiC Lite Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) to include the M2-W6510-48GT4V switch from Micas Networks. This addition marks an important step in extending the reach of SONiC Lite, PLVision’s SONiC-based distribution tailored for data center, campus, and edge deployments.
The M2-W6510-48GT4V is a high-performance Gigabit Ethernet switch featuring 52 ports, including 48 x 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and 4 x 10G/25G SFP28 uplink ports. Powered by Broadcom BCM56274 (Trident3 X2), this switch is ideal for use as a management switch in data center networking or enterprise access networking, offering robust reliability with redundant, hot-swappable AC and DC power supply units (PSUs) and fans that support both front-to-rear and rear-to-front airflow.
Loaded with the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) software installer, the M2-W6510-48GT4V supports SONiC-based operating systems, including SONiC Lite. This open-source production-ready solution empowers enterprises to build flexible and scalable network infrastructure while reducing Total Costs of Ownership (TCO).
SONiC Lite includes essential features such as L2 switching, L3 routing, and security, remaining synchronized with the latest stable Community SONiC version. This guarantees that users benefit from the most recent feature updates and bug fixes, providing a reliable and up-to-date network infrastructure.
Running on management switches, SONiC Lite extends SONiC use cases, enabling a unified network infrastructure under a single control plane. This approach enhances performance, control, and sustainability, delivering substantial business benefits.
PLVision is committed to continuously enhancing SONiC Lite, expanding its hardware compatibility list, and adding new functionalities. This latest integration with Micas reinforces PLVision’s dedication to expanding SONiC in various network infrastructures.
